Some people think that sports involving violence, such as boxing, martial arts, should be banned from TV as well as from international sporting competitions.

These days, people are concerned about the sporting programs’ appearance on TV and international competitions since some of them are violent and inappropriate for children. In this regard, many people believe that sports such as boxing and martial arts should be banned. From my perspective, I firmly agree with this idea. On the one hand, there are many reasons why I am in favor of a ban on violent sports. First of all, such sports are extremely hazardous. Although these sports also exert several beneficial influences on player’s health; however, just a mistake on the ring can lead to death. This is because some martial arts are the combinations between moves and weapons. For example, pencak silat, a martial art originated in Indonesia allows using kerambit, a kind of knife which cause lethal damage and take the player’s life immediately. Another reason why I reckon a prohibition should be proposed is that those sports are not appropriate for children. Notwithstanding the limitation of viewer’s age, to earn more profits, no tough measure is implemented to prevent the young audience. Consequently, those contents are still spreading on social networks and accessible for children. This can result in detrimental effects as children may imitate and misperceive these actions. Individuals may argue that violent sports should be allowed since they bring lots of benefits to the economy. Nevertheless, there are many other sports that are not only compelling but also advantageous for children’s mindset such as football, basketball, etc. As a result, boxing and other martial arts are unnecessary. To summarize, I believe that governments should ban violent sports since they are dangerous for both physical and mental health. Instead, other wholesome sports should be encouraged.
