Some people say that the government should invest in trains and the subway system to prevent traffic congestion in large cities. Others, however, think it should build wider roads. Q9koy
One of the most contemporary issues that receive concerns from various parts of the world is an alarming rate of traffic congestion. Some people hold the view that the government should distribute financial funds to construct trains and the subway system while others contend that money should be allocated to expand roads. This issue should be taken into consideration before a final decision is come to. On the one hand, widening roads should be greatly appreciated by the virtue of the benefits it brings to individuals and the whole society. To begin with, a justification is that an expansion of roads which have multiple lanes to drive would be easier to navigate and reach the destinations. Moreover, spending money on enlarging roads could substantially contribute to the national economy and improve the smooth and rapid movement of merchandise. Meanwhile, building and maintaining railway systems require great budgets which are out of the league of some developing countries. On the other hand, the merits of constructing trains and subways should not be overlooked. Firstly, metro systems have a greater carrying capacity than roads, leading to a reduction of vehicles and the traffic jams. Secondly, only thanks to subways could individuals avoid congestations on rush hour and move faster because they are built independently underground without going through intersections. Thirdly, it is a worthwhile idea if the metro system would be established with the aim to improve human’s daily life on account of having an efficient subway system in the country is also crucial to the economic and social well-being of people. In contrast, extending roads could encourage the use of private means of transport instead of public trains or buses which is considered to be one of the culprits worsening not only this problem but also the environmental contamination. In conclusion, despite the upsides of expanding roads, the public transport including trains and subways should be appreciated on account of various advantages they bring to individuals and the whole society.
