Due to the development of technology, people ignore the value that museums and art galleries bring. Some individuals think that observing objects on display can be replaced by searching on the internet. I personally oppose the view and my reasons will be explained in the following paragraphs. To begin with, museums and galleries can promote the culture of the area. Exhibits are the basis for people to have a deep understanding of their ancestors, native culture and traditions. Moreover, they conserve, dilluse and promote the culture of a country to the community. For that reason, their great educational value helps people raise awareness about the responsibility to their homeland, and the preservation and promotion of the national cultural heritage. In addition, admiring displayed items directly at a gallery or museum can fullier convey the meaning of the tools or figures than watching them through electronic devices. Museums usually recruit professional guides to talk to their visitors, therefore people can ask and have more detailed commentary about the exhibition than just read descriptions on the internet. Secondly, running museums and galleries is an integral part of the economy. Museums and art galleries can be tourist attraction destinations, which create demands for souvenirs, travel products and services. Beside, attracting visitors to museums also creates traffic and boosts economic activities for the surrounding area. Consequently, not only generate income and profit for individuals and organizations, museums and galleries also attract investment and become drives for development. Furthermore, entrance tickets for these destinations are much cheaper than buying technological devices, which is suitable for low-income groups. To summarize, the Internet can give people instant images and information about exhibits, however museums and galleries must be maintained to preserve the cultural identity and traditional values.
