Some people believe that low foreign language proficiency is still a big obstacle for Vietnam to integrate fully into the world. Others think that the key to global integration does not lie just in foreign language proficiency.

One of the social and politics challenges that our country are facing is language barrier in the fields of world integration. Some people claim that this makes it difficult to incorporate with other countries, however, others think that language isn’t the main element. From my point of view, both opinions are right in some cases, the following essay takes a look at both sides of the argument.
First and foremost, the lack of foreign language is a problematic issue. We should realize the importance of language owing to the fact that being good at foreign language can form a connection among many countries over the world. Language is linked to the identity of a nation, and speakers of a common language share many things such as: cultures, traditions, customs, etc. An added advantage of minimising the value of language would be that developing countries could integrate more deeply with the global market and be better able to extend services, entertainment and products to a wider audience. The best evidence of this is the progress of the world’s current dominant language, English. Countries all around the world pour money and time into funding English education but the majority of the world still cannot attain mastery. Therefore, proficiency in English will be a great advantage for getting a job as well as seizing many startup opportunities from global integration.
Let we take a look at other side, some opponents reckon that integration doesn’t wholly rely on the only element: language. There are many factors relating to integration such as: communication skills, team-work skills, the understanding of culture, good thinking, etc. Although Vietnamese youth have low foreign language ability, they also have cultural, professional qualifications that won’t inferior to the youth of other countries. They are active and never stop learning to improve their knowledge and skills. Since the world that we integrate has been and will be very complicated, integrating into the world requires young people to equip themselves with a strong bravery and skills to participate in international activities.
In my opinion, the most vital factor is language because most companies, when recruiting, require English proficiency from the candidate. Young people can learn foreign languages in many ways, such as: through audio tapes, movies, reference books. . . and go online if possible. High foreign language proficiency make a contribution to national economic and cultural development.
To conclude, in the process of developing our country, we can take advantages of foreign language in order to integrate with other parts of the world. It isn’t only bring benefits but also contribute to growing the country more and more prosperous
