Some people believe that children should study practical skills as managing a bank account, car maintenance, as well as traditional academic courses. Do you agree or disagree?

In recent years, many people argue that children should be taught practical skills such as managing their bank accounts or car maintenance along with academic subjects. From my perspective, this opinion is definitely a positive modification to the curriculum, and I will provide some tangible examples. It is obvious that without practical skills, youngsters will have to face myriad difficulties when walking into life. In other words, children are totally rookies if they encounter various issues in life whereas those have learnt practical skills can handle them like a piece of cake. According to researches by UNICEF, children who learn realistic knowledge are deemed to achieve more success in life. Compared to them, kids lacking of practical skills are usually confused and shocked when reality gives them a hard strike. Consequently, their processes are much slower, and their achievements seems to be more humble. Just as important, being acknowledged in some aspects of life provides wiser decisions. I have seen many youths having no idea when purchasing groceries, and buying rubbish with exorbitant price. Even more severe, many youngsters have been fallen into trap by vague rules in labor contracts, which is the normal circumstance in many remote regions. This is not something that can be acknowledged in every academic lectures, but hand-on experiences. The youth should be equipped with realistic skills or experiences so that they can deal with their own problems. To conclude, although many parents prefer their kids to participate in a full academic syllabus, practical knowledge is the thing can help them survive in society.
