Some people believe in the traditional idea that the woman’s place is in the home, while others say that idea is outdated and that women should play an increasingly important role in the workplace of the future. Discuss both views.

There has been a heated debate concerning the controversial issue of the position of women is in the workplace or home. While some people agree that a female should be confined as a housewife, it is also thought that a woman has the right to play a significant role in the work of the developing society. On the one hand, conventionally, it generally follows the idea that “men build the house and women make it a home”. In other words, women should be homemakers staying at home and rearing children, whilst men would be the breadwinners going out to feed the family. The reason is that women are naturally cautious, and perceptive, especially with regard to their maternal instincts, therefore, they have a natural ability to care for their families. As a consequence, husbands could focus on working to accommodate the family. On the other hand, nowadays, equal rights movements have made great progress, and it has become common for women to engage in the workplace where is considered as the domain of men. Firstly, by upholding gender equality in the modern world, females are deemed to be as well-qualified and competent as males, indeed some women may have better career prospects than their husbands. Angela Merkel, for example, the first female Chancellor of Germany, ranked fourth position on Forbes’ list of the world’s most powerful people in 2018. Secondly, the two genders could share their parenting and domestic responsibilities. It means that both men and women would get jobs to seek money that allows them to meet their basic needs, and after working, they do household chores and raise their children together. On the whole, there are convincing arguments that women should be responsible for handling matters related to family, but they can also participate in social and economic activities to flourish their careers in the modern world.
