In the past, people often used to hire the employees only based on their qualifications but these days it is observed that recruiters are giving priority to the workers with social skills along with professional degrees. I completely agree with this statement and this essay will discuss why soft skills are equally important as good qualification in a job.
To commence with, the workplace environment has been changed over the years. The new open workplace requires the employees to interact and collaborate with each other throughout the day. In the past, for example workers could escape difficult personalities and noisy co-workers by shutting the office door, however the modern workplace design requires the employees to interact and increase their soft skill capacity by communicating with each other. If the colleagues would not communicate the company would be facing major consequences because of lack of teamwork in the workers. Thus, the social skills that are an essential trait.
Another possible reason is the ability to influence others. Individuals have to influence their own staff as well as the clients, that are the people linked with the organisation. Therefore, despite being highly qualified, he wouldn't be able to impress them if he lacks certain communication skills. For instance, the teachers have to communicate with parents in the parent teacher meeting. If they will find it hard to interact, then they would not be able to convey their message.
