SOCIAL MEDIA TAKES AWAY THE ANALYTICAL ELEMENT OF EDUCATION
SOCIAL MEDIA TAKES AWAY THE ANALYTICAL ELEMENT OF EDUCATION qxrlr
Nowadays, the emergence of social media has positively impacted many aspects of education however it is also a double-edged sword and it has taken away the analytical elements of education. In my opinion, there are two reasons for this problem.
Firstly, social media is a place that contains a lot of information and students are very accessible to it. When looking for information for learning, students often search on social networking sites in particular and the web in general without thinking much. However, that information is not known as right or wrong, it can be seen that overusing social media to solve problems has made students' thinking ability increasingly reduced. For example, there is a study that shows that the acumen of a "lazy thinking" student is lower than a student who is less dependent on social media.
Secondly, social media is a medium that can support interaction and information exchange between teachers and students and between students. It is very useful for situations where direct communication is difficult such as lack of time or urgent information. However, this will also cause students to face communication problems if dependent on it. For example, when using zalo to communicate with students by texting. Due to the lack of body cues and other nonverbal cues, it is more difficult for students to understand such information than they are in the classroom.
In conclusion, social media has impacted the analytical element of education because of the large amount of information and communication it provides. I believe that, if we know how to use social media wisely, the affected elements of education will be less and less.
