With numerous technological leaps in the field of artificial intention and the Automotive industry, it is forecasted that vehicles will be operated by the computer system. From my perspective, I am in favor of the notion that this development can bring demerits to our society. To begin with, the primary defect of the driverless car is that they are functioned by a computer program; thereby, are prone to technical glitches. If this malfunction occurs while there are passengers on board, traffic accidents can be devastating and could easily cause a far worse crash than anything human error might typically incur. For example, when traveling in a driverless automobile, people cannot be conscious of any issues in this auto-driving system; furthermore, without a driver, individuals might have to wait for the relief of the experts. As a result, self-driving cars might become the leading cause of high traffic collisions that may make other drivers always anxious when traveling. Another foreseeable flaw of self-driving vehicles is that this type of automation might deprive people of their livelihood. To be specific, those who make a living by driving such as delivery couriers, taxi drivers, and bus ticket collectors will become redundant because autonomous cars have been popularized on roads. For instance, thousands of people in the world are now relying on driving as their main income, if automobiles will be converted into driving automation, their jobs and budgets will be disappeared. Consequently, the unemployment rate would see an upturn, which means families may have to face financial problems and require subsidies from the government. In conclusion, I am of the opinion that the computer-operated vehicle might be a positive progression due to its demerits which may occur as technical errors and cause individuals to lose their employment.
