Rules to Prohibit the Use of Cell Phone in Class

Technology has advanced, and cell phones have become essential gadgets in our lives. They are extensively used in many areas of life involving learning. Some school allow students to use cell phones in class, while others set rules to prohibit the use of phone. Although some people agree with this view. Personally, I am in favor of enacting laws to ban cell phones usage in class for some following reason. To begin with, one of the most obvious disadvantage is that it reduce students’s attention. Despite the advantages that come with cell phones, allowing students to use them will create a huge distraction for them. For example, studies have shown that children of school age will choose to chat and surf on social media when given a mobile phone rather than do some school works. Therefore, cellphones will make it difficult for them to concentrate on their studies. The second reason is that cellphones in the class promotes cheating. For example, according to a Pew Research Center study, 35 percent of pupils use their phones to complete tests or assignments, and 65 percent of teens reported that they see how smartphones were used by others. In consequence, cheating not only make it impossible to assess students corectly but also lead to a students’s poor understanding of the material in the future, and is unfair to students who studied hard to do well. In conclusion, cell phones are great tools to communicate, to feel safe and to learn. However, I believe their usage on campus should be banned so that students could avoid being distracted from learning and do not have chance to cheat. It is school’s responsible to decide to banning the phone usage or not. (final comment)
