Requirement for all first-year college students to live in school dormitories.
Requirement for all first-year college students to live in school dormitories. L5AD3
The issue whether all first-year college students should be required to live in school dormitories has triggered a heated debate. Some people assume that living space in dorms restricts personal freedom. However, from my viewpoint, it is better freshmen to live in a college residence.
To begin with, living in dorms is much more convenient for students than living in an apartment. First, students do not need much time to go to school. Because dorms are usually near the campus, it is easy to walk to class or grab a bite to eat when students have break. Second, dormitories help students reduce distractions and totally focus on their study. Dormitories are located on the campus with library and classes around pupils. As a result, instead of wasting time doing nonsense such as going pubs or amusement parks, they can utilize that time to gain useful knowledge.
Furthermore, the safety of students and their belongings is another advantage of living in college residence. First of all, most universities have the modern anti-theft devices such as fingerprint locks and CCTVs. For example, dorms in York University in Canada require special key-card access which only room’s owners have. In addition, living in dorms is more secure because students are protected. Because not only safeguards but also the Campus Safety Office are always available whenever they need help.
In conclusion, school dormitories provide students with not only convenience but also safety. Therefore, living in college campus is a perfect choice for first-year students.
