The Refrigerators have had a significant increase in ownership since it’s introduction in 1920 to reaching 100% ownership in 1980. The Vaccum cleaners, having a head start over refrigerators at 1920 have had a steady but, slower rate of increase and have managed to reach 100% ownership at 2000. In contrast, washing machines starting with a 40% ownership at 1920 was yet to achieve 100% ownership at 2019.
The second graph depicts a faster rate of decrease in hours of housework per week from 1920 to 1960 aligning with the ownership of electrical appliances in the first graph. Since 1960, the decrease number of hours of housework per week have been lowered significantly.
