I admire people who are not afraid of making mistakes. They say that learning from failure is the key to success. However, this notion cannot be used during the process of choosing your future major. For example, if you make mistakes during a quiz and analyze your weak sides, you are likely not to get those questions wrong anymore. You may also change your major as many times as you wish, but it is time-consuming and you might end up confused. Personally, I found this process challenging because I want to pursue a Bachelor of Science in both mathematics and computer science, and I had to make a decision carefully as I have to choose only one of them. My decision is to enroll in your foundation program to be sure about my future.
Our surroundings have a huge impact on our personal growth. All my family members have strong mathematical skills, including myself. When I was little, I used to live with my grandparents, who worked as teachers of math at a local school. They were the first ones who showed me the power of this science; they would explain to me how our whole planet works through mathematical theories. After the 6th grade, I enrolled in a regional math-physics school for gifted pupils, and I got the first highest score in the entrance exam. As I have been curious about everything since a young age, I took up various school clubs, such as an English-speaking club, playing dobra, swimming, and drawing. In the 10th grade, I took up Uzdik Bilim course online, where I met an alumni of Nazarbaev University. Berdibayev Yergali opened my eyes to computer science and showed the strong sides of artificial intelligence. I have participated in KBTU OPEN 2023, SDU OPEN 2023. Unfortunately, I couldn’t attend NU OPEN 2023 as the course began in December. Nowadays, I am working on a sign language translator project, and I am sure about its future help for our community, but I am still not sure about my major. Math is like my right hand, whereas computer science is my left hand. They work better together, but I have to choose one.
In conclusion, I would like to express my willingness to enroll in your community, as Nazarbaev University is the best research university and offers a variety of clubs and beneficial events. During the Foundation program, I hope to meet ambitious students and world-class educators who will help me decide on my future major. Thank you for considering my essay. I believe I will be able to take part in NU OPEN 2024 as a NU student.
