Money should be spent on creating new public buildings such as museums or town halls rather than renovating the existing ones. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Money should be spent on creating new public buildings such as museums or town halls rather than renovating the existing ones. QMMWy
It is argued that whether the funds should be spent on construction of new buildings such as town halls or museums or to renovate the existing ones. I agree that the money should be spent on building to new public buildings. To begin with, raising new public buildings will cater to the increasing population. We can choose a place to build such public structure which is centrally located and easily accessible. Moreover, because of the new construction technology the total cost of raising the building has become cheaper. This way it is beneficial to the government. The modern architecture and materials such as concrete and glass add into the aesthetical values of new buildings will attract more tourist too. For example, the newly opened museum in London has more footfall as it has very attractive architecture. On the other hand, renovating the all the existing buildings is not a practical solution. Buildings depreciate over 20 to100 years approximately. Despite the fact the normal wear and tear exist, the lifespan of furniture and fixtures is much lesser. Most of the old buildings are built with materials such as wood, metal and stone which requires constant maintenance and hence will be requiring lot of funds. On the contrary, the modern buildings are constructed with low maintenance materials such as concrete and glass and hence would be economical. In addition, the new buildings such as museums can house the remains of such ancient buildings with lesser money spent on the maintenance. To sum up, due to less maintenance and construction cost, it is wise to spend money on raising new public buildings rather than renovating the existing ones.
