Mass media is the source of news for the public to criticize and analyze. Which is why editors have to think what type of news attract citizens in both social media and newspapers. It is true that most of them are negative information, however it is due to the effect on the individual's life. Moreover I don't think that news agencies should increase the amount of good reports for the reason it doesn't matter for people. Firstly, news editors are not amateurs with no experience. They are well-exprienced in their field, especially in communication one. Therefore, they understand what type of information is consumable for community. Hence, the most favorable factor for mass media is publicity. They don't publish news which can lead to destruction of brand, or they don't have the right to lie to the citizens, which can make them responsible for their actions. Another reason is certain person's popularity, like actor, president or politician, after which expected to have high sales in media. Bad news seems like critical point in every industry, on the contrast it is a black hole for inhabitants to just look at the surface of the information and exaggerate it to the point of no return. On the other hand, I don't mean to stop all the good publishing stuff, merely because it is not likely approved by the citizens. To sum up, publishers are professionals who have a skill to point out news which are favorable for the popularity of agency, brand as well as public. Most of the time it is what other people want to see.
