In this day and age, many people have a trend toward studying at colleges and universities in a foreign country along with staying there. In my opinion, this is both a positive development for students and a negative development for their homeland.
On the one hand, it is undeniable that there are two crucial advantages when many students reside at foreign country after studying abroad. To begin with, they have a chance of getting a broader world view. In other words, students will be exposed to new cultures, lifestyles and languages. Therefore, they must go outside their comfort zone so that they can adapt to this new environment, which will help them improve valuable skills such as problem-solving and communication. In addition, living in a foreign country offers an opportunity for students to have a good job. This is because most first-world countries are more likely to pay high-salary for overseas students who have better academic performance and work ethics.
On the other hand, this trend also brings several drawbacks for the students and the progress of their homeland. It is true that many overseas students are faced by suffering racial discrimination between different skin colours or continents. For example, recently, a Vietnamese student in Japan was pushed down into the river and died by a local man without any reason. Furthermore, one of the most insurmountable problems in many nations is brain drain. To be specific, the government organizations create scholarships to study abroad for students but they do not return to devote values for their country. Consequently, the lack of workforce and tax income is pervasive leading to postpone economic development of the country.
In conclusion, although it is supposed that there are many considerable benefits for the students to stay in foreign countries after completing their study schedule, I am of the opinion that it is perhaps even more damaging for many factors.
