Sujatpur Asar Alo Somiti is the best VSLA of Baniachong Upazila. It is Located in Sujatpur Village in Sujatpur Union of Baniachong Upazila. This VSLA was formed on 04 November 2019 with 25 members. This VSLA was formed under the supervision of Sanchay Sathi Mina Akter. Safia Akter, the president of this VSLA is a very responsible and honest woman. She was elected by the members of this VSLA. Alema Begum is the record keeper of this VSLA and she can write VSLA accounts very well. The per-share value of this VSLA is BDT 100. The provides 3-month term loans to the VSLA members at the rate of 5% interest per month. This VSLA is currently staying in the 3rd cycle. At the end of the first cycle, they share out BDT 161000, and at the end of the 2nd cycle, they were able to share out BDT 277000. At the time of the formation of VSLA, they entered into an agreement with Sanchay Sathi Mina Akter for BDT 2500. According to the agreement, Mina Akter provides necessary support to the VSLA. They have now continued the contract with Sanchay Sathi Mina Akter. Cash Counter Asma Begum said “At present, our savings are BDT 298000 and at the end of the year we want to share out BDT 300000. Precedent Safia Akter said “By taking a loan from VSLA the group members have taken income-generating activities which have increased their family income”. Sanchay Sathi Mina Akter said “The VSLA members compete when depositing savings and they no longer borrow from outside”. VDC leader Baby Akter said, “Many VSLA has been formed in our village for Sanchay Sathi Mina Akter and the social status of women in the village has improved”.
