Currently, we are seeing several catastrophic effects on our environment. Some say it is man-made activities that lead to it. At the same time, people believe that a lot of time has already been wasted reducing the damage that has already been done, while others believe there is still some hope, and we can fight this problem. This essay will examine the reasons for both ideologies and shed some light on my perspective on the matter. Firstly, there is no doubt that our planet is not the same way as it used to be. There have been a lot of climatic changes that ultimately affected the flora and fauna. Furthermore, much is attributed to man-made activities. Human nature of over-exploiting our natural resources such as trees, which has led to problems like deforestation. In this case, a lot of trees are cut down to generate more space for building houses. Since all these acts are centred around people’s greed to sustain themselves. They are forgetting how much of a negative impact it has on our ecosystem. For example, recent statistics show that compared to the early human civilization, around 50% of trees are left in the world. The Amazon Forest, which provides 6% of the world’s global oxygen, is being affected by the forest fire. This is because of the slash-and-burn approach to deforested land. In addition, the effects of climate change and global warming have also had a major impact due to the large emissions of carbon into the atmosphere from the burning of fossil fuels. Due to a lack of government and public awareness, the damage can no longer be repaired. Therefore, some people have lost their hopes. Secondly, some still believe something can be done to reverse this global crisis. Nevertheless, many positive alternatives and initiatives have been introduced to solve this issue. For instance, higher-level global initiatives, such as various developed nations that have sufficient resources and technology, can go hand in hand and work together to reduce the carbon footprint or bring the earth's temperature below 1. 5 degrees Celsius. Likewise, we are also solving an issue like global warming and climate change. Even educating and raising awareness on the matter will help them understand the seriousness. If the government and the public work together, then they can fight back and help protect our planet. Hence, some people are optimistic and think that something can be done to prevent any future catastrophe. In conclusion, it can be said that whether something can be done to reduce the negative effect of man-made action or not. In my opinion, there is still some hope. Initiatives are being taken and even strategies using new technologies. At present, both political leaders and citizens must take strict measures to avoid further consequences.
