High technology is now being harnessed to help the elderly by providing monitoring, tracking and, perhaps, one day robots as companions. While there are obvious benefits for the elderly in these developments, some people are uneasy about the consequences. v. 2 jEDlN
High technology or robots are intended to upgrade to help the elderly by talking, doing housework and becoming friends. Their obvious benefits are still objected to and unpleasant with some people. On one hand, modern technologies help the elderly a lot in their daily routine. For example, in health, the heart rate monitor can help them to know and understand their own heart so that they can adjust their meal suitably. Furthermore, most of the elderly like to talk with their family, however, young people can be busy with their work. Hence, the robot can become a friend and help them to express their emotions. On the other hand, the conveniences of robots seem to replace humans that can become the social consequences. More and more people become addicted to smartphones, which affect the body clock and health as people always use their phone before sleeping. However, blue light from electric devices can negatively influence our skin, brain and eyes. In addition, the percentage of unemployment is increasing because factories or firms employ robots which can work continuously without relaxing and producing with high speed and accuracy. Manufacturers have created robots with lots of skills, for example answering questions of customers, so that the receptionist can be unemployed in the future. In conclusion, advanced machines not only bring new positive changes but also lead to unnecessary consequences about health and life. Therefore, we have to learn how to use modern and automatic devices to avoid harmful affection. I believe that social implications are not problem if people have suitable adjustment
