Handphone Addiction Among Small Children Is Worrying. Suggest ways to prevent it.

Handphone Addiction Among Small Children Is Worrying. Suggest ways to prevent it. KgyYR
Young children nowadays posses many advanced gadgets including handphones which they no longer use as a phone for contacting parents, but for many other purposes such as playing games and socialising. As a result, addiction to handphones is slowly building up and causes poor concentration and poor academic performance, besides eyesight deterioration and emotional instability. To prevent this, parents should control the use of their children's handphones, increase children's social activities and introduce hobbies to them. Firstly, parents should control and monitor the use of handphones by their children. This will limit children's access to social media or online games, and thus reduce the long hours of handphone usage. For instance, parents could set a time frame for handphone usage with the purpose of usage being spelt out clearly. This could instill and improve a child's discipline in the long run. Hence, control and monitoring by parents reduces the chances of children getting addicted to handphones. In addition, parents should get their children involved in more social activities to fill up their free time. When they have fun doing physical activities with others, their time on handphones will be cut down. For with other children in parks, cycling with friends or doing fun activities with adults. Social activities help children to enjoy physical interaction with people, thus replacing virtual interaction on handphones. With that, addiction to handphones can be prevented. Lastly, children should be exposed and introduced to more hobbies. Good hobbies help children to fill up their free time beneficially with activities they enjoy such as swimming, skateboarding or dancing. When they find joy and happiness in their hobbies, they naturally will not have the time and desire to be glued to the handphone. In the long run, good hobbies prevent bad addiction. The issue of handphone addiction should not be taken lightly as it brings many negative effects to a child. Prevention is better than cure. The three suggestions above help to nip the problem in bud at its early stage.
