Currently, graduates leave college with less than a 50% chance of getting a good job, mainly because most jobs or companies are looking for skilled or experienced people, which does not favor students because they clearly do not have it. For this reason, graduates are forced to look for more options knowing that they will not get a job immediately after graduation. A multitude of students decide to take a gap year to travel to countries abroad, to get to know new places and people, and therefore enjoy and rest after their degree. On the other hand, others decide to opt for small jobs where they know they will get the experience that will help them enrich their knowledge and, of course, their resume. They even work for a long time in these places even if the pay is not well remunerated. As a conclusion, students are in a situation where they are not allowed to work if they have no experience, even if their grades are incredibly good. I think they face this issue in the best way, as both options either traveling or gaining experience in other places are considerably positive and they can gain a lot of benefits from it, and eventually, these decisions could help them learn more about how the real world works. Having said that, I personally do not consider this whole process as a waste of time, on the contrary, they are once in a lifetime opportunities, therefore, no student should discard these paths, because it is time to stop thinking that there is only one way to be successful, but that there are too many ways to be successful.
