Both partners should work
Both partners should work nnVd2
In marriages today, some argue that it is the responsibility of both spouses to earn a living for the family.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?
In couples nowadays, it is a widely accepted fact that both husband and wife should work. I strongly agree with this statement for reasons that will be mentioned in this essay.
The primary reason why both partners should work is the expensive cost of living. Life is no longer easily affordable as before. This is especially true in matters like housing, for instance, for those living in cities, paying rents can account to more than half of one’s salary. Therefore, in order to afford other necessary expenditures, live a comfotable life and make a proper saving for future plans, it is far better that both spouses contribute to the household costs. Moreover by both husband and wife working means financial responsibilty is handled by not only one family member and hence, they can afford not only to pay for their basic needs, but also for their leisure activities or holidays. This in turn gives way to less frustration in the couple and thus they can enjoy a happier married life.
Furthermore, both genders should be given the right to fulfil their dreams and have a succesful career of their choice. In fact, with industrialisation, more women started to work and they were granted easier access to education thereby promoting gender equality across societies. As a result of this, it is now acknowledged that women can choose whether to be a housewife or a career person. Lastly, having both partners receiving salaries and contributing to tax helps in the development of a country. It has been shown in studies that in places where both men and women became part of the workforce, economy was and there was better quality of life in tems of healthcare and education.
To conclude, I would say that, in order to cope with the expensive life of today, have a better married life, promote equal rights and help in a country’s development, both partners should earn a living.
