People have different view about whether or not government should help senior citizens. Although I accept that we all have a responsibility to save to save money for retirement, I disagree with the idea that elderly people should receive no support from the state
Admittedly everyone should prepare for their elder life as they can support them. Even it is the duty for him or his family member rather than government. Like a parents take care of their childern in childhood. Moreover, it is quite burden for economics to take care all retried people. So, If a person haven’t the ability or their children left them at old age, government may provide financial help as well as better health services.
On the other side, elderly people need support from younger. Also young people have to spend more money and time rather than in working. As a result, it will effect on national economics and GDP will slow. In addiction, having unhealthy and sick population, no nations can developed. Thus, government should focus on better treatment and make a budget for elder people so that they can take care themselves. Furthermore, senior citizens were a part of financial development once a while, regardless with this prospective, Govt has a responsibility for them when they need support.
In conclusion, while individuals has own duty to prepare for support at the elder stage, government also have some liability to pay financial support for them.
