Some people pursue career paths that lead to management positions. Other people follow career paths leading to positions of individual responsibility, which do not involve managing others.

While the world has become competitive in terms of profession, there are two main categories, administration and independent jobs. While some individuals prefer the job that ends up in executive tasks, others consider a personal business. In the meantime, I rather have an occupation through which I can perform individually the reasons for which are presented in the following paragraphs. To begin with, one of the integral reasons why a person chooses an executive occupation depends on their personalities and skills. To be more specific, people with leadership skills are more likely inclined to follow the professions that result in administrative positions. This type of personality is able to task under strict and disciplined workplace where every employee works to serve a single purpose. The willingness to work within a team is also another characteristic that explain this preference. As an illustration, within a team, one is assigned to deliver the project to his superior while his superior controls the project and gives it to the executive director. Thus, the workers who can lead the teamwork and are able to successfully meet the deadline, are possibility considered to be assigned for higher executive tasks. Likewise, personality plays its role in making the decisions of those who choose to work individually. These individuals enjoy the flexibility and the creativity. Hence, they usually prefer to work independently. For example, the designer of a clothing brand has more flexible schedule and freedom of action in his job than a human resources director. While the designer can use his ideas freely and under unrestricted circumstances, the manager must control the deadlines, attend conferences, and lead the employees towards a specific goal. I personally select an independent business as my performance and efficiency are better without restrictions and disciplines. For example, I have worked as a freelance translator for few years. I could work at anytime of the day and meet the deadlines without being monitored and under any pressure, which led to be a thriving business and experience for me. In conclusion, there are an abundance of occupational opportunities for the people around the world and each person makes their decisions based on their personal reasons. Some choose to work under conditions, resulting in the managerial positions while others prefer to have individual tasks and responsibilities. I believe that personality can have a significant impact on this choice, thus, I rather have a job where I can work alone.
