Errors in English writing can be categorized into three types: Fragments, Run-on and Choppy Sentences. Firstly, Fragments is the error of missing sentence elements. There are two common fragments: incomplete clauses and dependent clauses. An incomplete clause shows that the sentence is missing either subject or predicate. The dependent clause cannot stand as a complete sentence but it must be accompanied by the main clause. Next, Run-on occurs when you write two or more sentences without using proper punctuation or linking words. You can add a coordinating conjunction (FANBOYS) to correct this error. Finally, Choppy sentences are too short simple sentences. You should try not to make this mistake by finding the link between the simple sentences to turn them into main or secondary compound sentences or isotopic compound sentences.
