Abstract
This study investigates the relationship between the dreams of the characters in “Of Mice and Men” and the fall of the American dream. According to the American dream, “everyone can achieve their own version of success in society by working hard, regardless of where they were born or what class they were born in. ” In this novella, Lennie, George, Crooks who is black but American, Candy, Curvey, and his wife have their own American dreams such as having their own land, being an actress, having rabbits, and feeding them but in the end, no one can attain their dreams despite their hard work and sacrifice. This study analyses their dreams and how they do not achieve their American dreams.
