Disneyland,is it your children’s magical memory or a money game for you? 3Joy5
Hello,
I am a mom with 3 children.
The following is my real experience,
Our family finally finished the Disneyland Park trip that we had been planning for a long time on August 29. I have given much thought to my evaluation, it is not an arbitrary decision. It's definitely a bad experience for our family. I just can give 1 star to Disneyland in California if full score is 10 stars. More precisely, the 1 star is just from my oldest son.
There are 5 people in my family, me and my husband and my 3 children, ages are 2, 5 and 9. We paid $514 for this trip but we were very disappointed.
Next, let me list my concerns below:
1. Overcrowded
Because of overcrowding, there were very long lines for each ride.
Even though I have bought a service named Genie+ for $20 for each family member, this is not for all attractions. It's true we didn't have to wait long lines for one ride because of the 120-Minute Genie+ Rule just for me and my oldest son. But we still haven’t been to play the rides that we’d love to play with my little boy and little girl, it's still excessive waiting with small children on a hot day.
2. Lack of shaded chairs and benches to rest
There are not enough benches in the shade to rest and many people have nowhere to sit away from the hot sun. You’ll be spending many hours in the sun. I saw too many people sitting on the hot ground. We had been looking for a shady spot. With the prices for tickets to Disneyland Park, it seems that they should have designed the park with more chairs and benches for families and seniors to rest.
3. No open space for children
Although there are rides specifically for little kids, there are too many people waiting there.
When I gave up waiting, I tried to find a space to let my little girl and little boy get out of the stroller, because they had been in the stroller almost whole day for many hours. Once she got out of the stroller to dance and jump, after only about ten seconds she was pushed back to the stroller by the crowd. It would be nice to have some sculptures of Disney characters and some slides, as well as a Disney-themed play plaza. But now, no matter what you want to do, there is nothing but a long line.
4. Safety
We went to the park on a Monday which is typically a day of low attendance. Sometimes I needed to wait in the closed space with a lot of people for rides. I didn't see any escape map in case of an emergency which is required by law. There should be many signs in obvious locations. And also have some signs for Medical emergency for people who need help.
When night comes, all the people want to go to see shows, but the children are all asleep, they are extremely tired. Finally, we have to dragged ourselves back late to the parking lot like a major trek, because the parking lot is very far from the park gate, I didn’t wake up my kids for the shuttle. In my perspective, I strongly recommend that people don't bring children
under age 9 to Disneyland Park or they will have a life time expensive memory of waiting with small children for hours in the hot sun. This park is more suitable for adults and couples with no children. Our family dream vacation became an expensive family nightmare.
