Nowadays, commercial advertisement is a fundamental way to enhance the values of merchandise and appeal to buyers to purchase them. Because of this, consumers are bombarded with rising adverts from these companies and it negatively influences humans' lives. In my opinion, while the authorities should take some definite actions, people must become wise buyers to prevent this from happening.
I endorse that buyers often fall victim to companies' advertising campaigns. The main reason why they are influenced harmfully is making consumers have impulsive purchase, especially in young purchasers. Numerous large conglomerates exaggerate the usefulness of merchandise when advertising. Other companies have hired celebrities in adverts to associate their products or brand with positive impressions like the adverts of Pepsi: Digital Fever in the Philippines with a chance to win a special prize of 1 million pesos. To increase the number of shopping, Pepsi awarded 18 people to appear in its advertising to increase the persuasion and it led to lawsuits, riots and even loss of life in the 90s.
I contend that censorship is the key to address the issue. This can be conducted by establishing an authority specialising in vetting all adverts. Therefore, this will alleviate exaggerated advertising contents before they are aired. Moreover, people must become smart purchasers by taking our real needs into account and finding out detailed information about commodities before any decision of purchasing.
