what is CPR? CPR is used to keep someone alive after they have had a cardiac arrest. but before you perform CPR, you should check for a response. but if they don't respond then it is important to do CPR.
firstly, try to get help. ask people to stay with you, and call the emergency services. they will ask you some questions, and give instructions on what to do.
after doing as above, start checking if the patient is in a good position. then start doing chest compression. to perform them you first kneel next to the patient and put the bottom of your hand in the center of their chest, and lock your fingers together. then press down hard. keep your arms straight, and use your body weight. after every 30 compressions, you could do rescue breaths by moving the patient head back and blowing into their mouth twice, but you should avoid it unless you were trained recently. do these compressions 100 to 120 times a minute until medical help arrives.
Remember, CPR is a lifesaving first aid procedure. the steps vary depending on the person. However, the basic cycle of chest compressions and rescue breaths will remain the same
