The problem of alkaline water in An Giang province, has been negatively affecting the quality of water sources of people in the region. However, research on alkaline water is still not popular, because the management is still mainly based on traditional methods, making it difficult to update the new database.
With the desire to systematize the data on the distribution of alum-contaminated water in An Giang province, contributing to building a basic premise for studies on optimal use of alum-contaminated water, the study conducted an investigation, directly surveyed 300 households and collected and analyzed 320 environmental samples in the study area by some main research methods such as: Interview method; sampling, preserving and storing water samples; laboratory analysis; Data processing; map digitization.
From the alum-contaminated water databases, successfully digitized the alum-contaminated water quality distribution map based on the parameters of pH, turbidity, Fe and Al to optimally manage water resources, meet meeting the sustainable development goals of An Giang province.
Besides the obtained results, the topic has not yet conducted in-depth research on the influence and quality distribution of parameters such as Mn, SO42- due to limited implementation time and funding.
It is recommended that the state management agencies in charge of the environment consider applying the geographical information system to the management of alum contaminated water sources in the whole An Giang province.
