In today's world, the importance of acquiring skills is agreed upon everyone as they think they are needed to succeed in life. When it comes to the matter of how many skills one should master, people are of different opinions as some hold that they should focus on one to be successful, while others believe otherwise, namely that the more they learn various skills, the more successful they become. I totally agree that more skills help us be more successful for a number of reason, among which finding a better job, and coping well with different roles in life are the most conspicuous ones. The salient reason why individuals can enhance their chance of success by more skills is that by doing so, they can cultivate improved relationship with others. To be more specific, as we live our lives in a complex manner, dealing with different situations, we require different skills to put up with the situations. In other words, one may be a boss to a company, a spouse to an adult, and a parent to a child. These various situations call for a range of skills, such as parenting, academic or sharing feelings with others. Thus, those who master many skills can play their different roles in their lives in an acceptable way. Another reason for the view is that we can have a better job by learning a number of skill, and as a result be more successful. Having a good job contributes to succession in many ways; for instance those who have a good-paying job can enjoy their life more as they are able to spend more money on what make them feel better. Moreover, if one thinks of his/her job as prestigious one, it may result in their being more satisfied with their life as they can see their efforts is appreciated. Although some may argue that focusing on one skill may lead to our becoming proficient in a major, it may not work since gone are the days when jobs demanded a limited number of skills as they have grown more complicated, requiring employees to be more multi-faceted, which is possible when they have a range of expertise under their belts. Therefore, to get more satisfaction from jobs, people should learn more skills. To sum up, with the above in mind, it is true that it is more beneficial for individuals to have a range of skills to be enjoy more success in life on the grounds that not only does it help them play their various roles in life better, but it also provide them with superior job to enjoy the sense of success from the job.
