The culture of my country India is rich and diverse. There are a lot of ancient stories and things that are of a great value and can amaze the world. Culture is formed of various practices, both- the good ones and the bad ones. And there are a whole lot of movies and books written on such practices. But I would like to write about a movie called 'Dangal'.
Three-four decades ago, orthodoxy in India was much higher than it is today. During that period, women had barely any freedom and were controlled. The society was man-oriented. And the condition was even worse in villages where people were illiterate. The movie pictures this system and how two girls played a major role in its eradication.
The film revolves around a former Olympic wrestler Mahavir Phogat and how he wanted a boy child to continue his legacy in wrestling but kept getting girl child. Tired of this, he decided to allow his two daughters- Geeta and Babita to pursue wrestling. The film covers the struggles these two girls went through to reach success and the impact they left on their village as well as the whole of India.
One of my cousin once asked me about a movie that she can watch, that was inspirational, based on sports and depicts the Indian culture. As I had already watched the film thrice, I recommended it to her and she loved it. She reviewed that the story line, the cast, everything about the film was absolutely, mind blowingly stunning and that it was so inspiring as it was produced by keeping in mind a true story.
I would definitely recommend watching it once because of how big of an impact it had on the people of India and how it influenced the life of many little girls in pursuing their dream career.
