There has always been a belief among some people about making unpaid community service a compulsory part of high school programs. However, some group of people think otherwise. In this essay, we will explore various views of people and, in the end, arrive at an unbiased opinion on this matter.
First of all, the students should be made aware about what an unpaid community service and what activities are included within it. Basically, these services are the deeds done for the betterment of the society for 'for free'. These includes- working for charity, improving neighbour hood, teaching sport to younger children and many other activities that have the potential of developing a joyful, well-civilized community.
The group of people that wants to make these services compulsory of high school students thinks that its inclusion can leave a positive impact on the students at an early age. They can develop various skills like communication and leadership by working with a group of people. Moreover, they can contribute in developing a better society.
The crowd that thinks it is good not to include this in the school program is because it can have an adverse effect on the students academics. Since they would have to provide these unpaid services, they will not have enough time left for academic purpose. Their line of thinking is that there are already a lot of subjects included in the syllabus for them to study and these services will add nothing but stress. Moreover, since these are 'unpaid' services, the students will do it just for the sake of finishing it. In short, there would not be much dedication or enthusiasm about it among them.
Talking about myself, I do disagree with this idea but not completely. I think it would be better to form groups in school of this purpose, so that interested students can join rather than having it as a compulsion.
