Recently, there is mounting concern about US economy recession due to inflation and plunging stock market. According to NBC Nightly News, prices for daily necessities such as gas have been surging by more than 40% (compared to 2019) while three main US stocks have dropped by 4-5% in the previous week．
However, every cloud has a silver lining. The earnings of 2 popular supermarkets Target and Walmart indicated a trend of slower consumer spending. Therefore, decreasing demand of goods ameliorated some labor and supply chain pressures which 'compressed' the key ingredient of inflation. It is hoped that the US stock market will get better in the following weeks.
