Today's youth get too much too easily and this is detrimental to their future. m5boA
Ever since we were old enough to understand, we have always heard this from our parents - “ During our times, we did not have even half the facilities that you are able to enjoy. ” It has become a well agreed upon notion that today’s children get everything at their beck and call. Elders complain that they hardly have to struggle for anything. However, being a part of today’s youth, I do not wholeheartedly agree with the same. While it may be true that we have been provided with all the luxuries too soon in life as compared to our parents or grandparents, isn’t that the very purpose of evolution? That the next generation lives life a little better than the previous and a lot better than the one before that?
One might say that patience is not a virtue that today’s youth know because they haven’t had to wait to get the next best gadget, the next best I-phone, or that they have never really heard a ‘no’ in their life. But this is primarily because their parents have entitled them to getting the best of everything because they wouldn’t want their child to have an inferiority complex. Children are not born with the greed that is inherent in humans. They are conditioned to this behavior by the same parents who say that this will later prove to be harmful in life. With the advancement in technology and science, whose primary goal is to make life easier, the coming generations are bound to have a more comfortable life, but at the cost of the increasing competition. Just because today’s youth graduate early, start earning early and get high salaried jobs early, we should not assume that they have no struggle.
We cannot be the ones giving them the luxuries and at the same time being the ones complaining about giving them an easier life. Whether or not to spoil children is in our hands. By teaching them to be humble and grateful, we can make sure that they do not have a future that is detrimental for them.
