The table above describes the percentage of consumer durables that are possessed by British people from 1972 to 1983. There are eight durables that are listed in the table, such as central heating, television, video, vacuum cleaner, refrigerator, washing machine, dishwasher, and telephone. In general, the percentage of the British households that own these durables increased each year.
The most owned durable among households in Britain is television where in 1972 93% of households had television, and eleven years later the number rose to 98%. The least owned durable was dishwasher. According to the table, British people started owning dishwasher in 1978 and there were only 3% households who have it. The percentage slightly climbed to 5% in 1983. Another notable information about the owned durables in this table is that videos were not owned until in 1983, and in that year around 18% households possessed videos, which is higher than the percentage of households that possessed dishwashers.
