Regarding to new railway systems, London was the oldest and the longest system as compared to others, having been opened in 1863 and covering 394 kilometers. It also provided safe transportation to 775 million people. The second railway system for its age was Paris, which was introduced in 1900 and served to much more people as 1191 million contrarily to London. However, it was only about half size of the London underground. Finally, the Tokyo system was most used with 1928 million people, and it was launched in 1927. Focusing on newer networks, The Washington DC underground was the longest, with 126 kilometers of route, compared to only 11 and 28 kilometres for Kyoto and Los Angeles respectively. Los Angeles network was the newest in terms of age, having been initiated in 2001, contrarily to others. As well as it served for 50 million people, which was closely followed by Kyoto.
