The gist of the infographic is that the dominant trend for the number of Cambodia was one of mild growth whereas the remaining countries experienced a gradual decline. Also, it is noticeable that India had the most elephants for most of the period.
Beginning with 1997, the number of Asian elephants in India peaked at nearly 10000 animals, followed by a sudden drop to approximately 8000 animals. A similar trend can be seen in Myanmar with 5800 and 5600 animals. The quantity of Thailand's elephants was twice as high as the ones from 1997 to 2004. Starting at 3000 people in the year 1997, there was a modest reduction in the number of Sri Lanka's elephants, at 3900 animals. Meanwhile, Myanmar's elephants decreased twofold from 3000 to 1500 animals.
Turning to the remainder of the time frame, a moderate increase was witnessed in the number of elephants in Cambodia between 1997 to 2004, from 1600 to 1700 animals. The opposite for Viet Nam, Laos and China with 1300, 1200, 3000 elephants respectively.
