The graph below shows the daily consumption of three spreads per person from 1981 to 2007 in a country. 39eGl
The line graph compares 3 type of spreads eaten over a span of 26 years.
Overall, the consumption of margarine and butter declined gradually over the given period, whereas low fat and reduced spreads had an upward trend. at the start of the period, butter was the most known spread among other spreads, however, it was replaced by low fat and reduced spreads in the final year.
With regard to butter, in 1986, the number of grams had increased just under 160 grams. Then, there was a significant fall of 100 grams and the figure continued to decrease before reaching approximately 50 grams in 2007. similarly, butter was consumed roughly 90 grams at the beginning of the period. after that, THE FIGURE REMAINED STATIC BETWEEN 1991 AND 1996, AND CONTINUED ITS DOWNWARD TREND UNTIL IT REACHED 40 GRAMS AT THE END OF THE PERIOD.
on the other hand, the least popular spread that came to appear in the middle of the period was lowfat and reduced spreads, being consumed just roughly 15 grams in 1996. This was far lower than butter and margarine, which were consumed about 142 grams and 90 grams in the first year. However, apart from a moderate increase in 1996, the consumption of it minimally declined and finished just under 80 grams.
