Given are the line charts depicting detailed information about how large the ozone hole was in Antarctica and the quantity of damaging gases released into the ozone layer over the course of two decades, from 1980 to 2000. Overall, the size of the ozone hole increased dramatically and there were upward trends in the production of different kinds of gases, except for the CFC-11 within the given period. Looking at the first graph more closely, one can see that the ozone hole size witnessed a substantial growth in the first decade, from no more than 500 to about 2 million square kilometres. Interestingly, it declined slightly to 1 million square kilometres before soaring to 3. 5 million square kilometres at the end of the period. Turning to the second graph, it is apparent that there was a minimal increase in the amount of CFC-12, going up from 30 million to approximately 40 million tonnes over the 20-year course. Moreover, it shared the same pattern with the amount of N2O released to the air although this kind of gas just appeared at the middle of the period, skyrocketing to 30 million tonnes in 2000. Meanwhile, CFC-11 registered a dramatic drop, plummeting from 70 million to nearly 10 million tonnes between 1980 and 2000.
