The given diagram explains the ocean carbon cycle with different stages involved in it.
Overall, according to this ocean carbon cycle has seven different stages with two main cycles. It shows clearly how zooplankton and bacteria do their respiration.
In the first cycle, where phytoplankton breathes carbon dioxide which is then consumed by the zooplankton afterward, they started migrating vertical towards the sea floor where they began to release carbon dioxide again into the atmosphere.
However, in the second cycle the same things happen but instead zooplankton bacteria consume the sinking phytoplankton. Then bacteria also exert carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Also, the remains of phytoplankton transform into organic carbon burial.
