The given bar chart illustrates the ratio of households in owned and rented accommodation in England and Wales in 93 years, from 1918 to 2011. Overall, we can see an upwards trend in the owned accommodation of households.
In 1918, the percentage of households in owned the accommodation was the lowest among all years, whereas the ratio of the rented household was the highest, which was 23% and 77% respectively. On the other hand, in 2001, we can see a complete reverse situation where the ratio of households in owned accommodation was reached it's the highest level which is around 69% and on contrary, percentage of households in tented accommodation dropped to the lowest of 31%.
From, 1918 to 2001, we can see a pattern where households in owned the accommodation was increasing and the ratio of household in rented accommodation was in a falling trend. In 1971, both of the ratios became the same which is 50%. However, we can see a various the trend in 2011, where the trend became changed and households in owned accommodation was decreased and households in rented accommodation was increased by 4% compared to 2001.
