Tearing down historical monuments
Tearing down historical monuments DLpEm
Introduction
Although the world around us is constantly modernizing, including the imagery of our town, it is important to value and appreciate historical landmarks, within this town. Old buildings, in general, create a sense of nostalgia, as it reminds citizens how previous generations had lived here, and by demolishing these structures the town itself changes.
Problem
This particular old building, which is planned to be demolished, has quite a significant history, as it was built centuries ago furthermore having survived several world wars. Although the structure has been unused in recent years, it is without a doubt an important historical landmark and deserves far more recognition and care.
Solution
As a majority of town citizens agree, the building should be renovated. Considering the state in which the building is currently in, the renovation would be rather pricy but the people are willing to help fund this project as they feel it portrays a special image of the history of this town. Furthermore, in order to give back to the community, a museum of the town's history could be set up in the building, which would be extremely suitable considering its history.
Conclusion
Instead of tearing down a significantly important part of history, it is far more valuable to renovate and restore the building thereby giving it a new life. Consequently, not only would this help enhance the modern imagery of the city but also help create a sense of nostalgia within the people, as well as give the city a different vibe.
