The graph provides statistics on the proportion of birth and death in New Zealand over the period of 200 years from 1901. In general, although both death and birth rates have the same increasing trend, the levels of death experienced an upward trend during the period shown while this figure for birth fluctuated in the first half of the given period. Regarding the first 100-year period of time, beginning at 20oos, the percentage of new born children varied and increased slightly before leveling off in 1941 and underwent a dramatic growth to just under 60 oos in 2001. It reached a peak at around 65 in 1961. Apart from that, this figure for death just climbed gradually, by 20oos. In terms of the final 100 years, although both of them suffered a significant increase during the period of 200 years, in this period, there was a difference between them. While the levels of birth showed a wave like decreased trend from 55oos to above 40oos in 2101, this figure for death felt a rapid growth to under 70oos in 2061 and remained nearly unchanged since then.
