The following table illustrates the average rate of calorie consumption, classified into seven types of products in the United States over a sixty-year period from 1970 to 2010. Overall, the total rate of calorie intake shown over the timeframe in the States progressively increased. While Meat, Eggs and Nuts exhibited the highest rate among the list of products in 1970, this rate was dominated by Grains in 1990, and the rate of consumption for these products was surpassed by Added Fat in 2010. In contrast, the rate of calorie consumption in fruit consistently registered the lowest consumption throughout the period given. Regarding the calorie intake in 1970 and 1990, the total rate of calories was 2, 165 in 1970 and 2, 405 in 1990, respectively. Of all 7 products, Meat, Eggs and Nuts displayed the highest rate of calorie consumption at 465 in 1970, while, the average intake level of the rest of the products, including Grains, Added Sugar, Added Fat, and Dairy, was below 450, and the lowest one was in Fruit. However, in 1990, the highest calorie consumption shifted from Meat, Eggs and Nuts in 1970 to Grains, which had a consumption of 575 in 1990. Likewise, the consumption rate was below 460 in the rest of the products with the lowest one in Fruit that slightly rose from 70 to 85 this year. Delving deeper into the details of the intake level of calories in 2010, the highest rate altered to Added Fat at 640, while Grains came second at 625. Although there were some changes in the number of calorie intake in Meat, Eggs and Nuts at 480 and Added Sugar at 460, Dairy produce, Vegetable, and Fruit rate of calorie consumption were still lower than the first four products at 255, 120, and 85 respectively.
