STUDY PLAN FOR A BACHELOR’S DEGREE

My name is Ye Htet Soe. I am a fifth year student from Yangon Technological University majoring in Architecture. I hereby would like to apply for Architecture specialization in Pusan National University with its remarkably long history and great reputation. Through world class researches and educational innovations, it is clear that PNU provides quality education which I have always desired to be equipped with. After studying Architecture for 4 years in Yangon Technological University, I was fortunate to discover my passion in sustainable designs and approaches, eco-friendly urban planning and green building technologies. And I also discovered that PNU’s BEST(Building Environment and Services Tech) laboratory targets for these fields and produces amazing performances. Thus, I am applying for the Architecture major to become a PNU-trained architect and I intend to do a thesis research on one of the fields mentioned above. Before my arrival to Korea, I will try to improve my four skills in Korean. I will prepare to cope with the vocabularies and terms used in Korea’s everyday life and in the bachelor degree course. As for English, although I have some proficiency, I still need to develop my speaking skills as it is not normally used in everyday life. I will try to become a fluent speaker so that I can communicate with intellectuals from different countries. Therefore, after my intensive language study before my arrival to Korea and 6-month language program, I am confident to be able to communicate properly by then. It is my goal to gain the bachelor degree first and pursue further study in the fields of sustainability and urban design. I am aiming to achieve a postgraduate degree on one of these fields of Architecture. In the first year of the bachelor degree program, I will commit myself into studying science subjects and fundamentals of Architecture which are the foundations of the study years ahead. In the year of second and third, I will put my most effort into majoring studies while giving full attention to supplementary subjects as well. The fourth of my academic year would be the time when I am capable of collecting information and doing some researches in order to develop a thesis title which is to be approved by professors and my thesis advisor. In the final year, I will try my best to do thorough researches following specific guidelines and methodologies to develop a strong thesis and submit it. Throughout my years of study, I am fully confident to keep a strong G. P. A every year as Architectural studies has always been my passion. After studying my academic years with full commitment, I would like to serve for Architectural Practices in Korea for some years to get the privilege of working in a developed country. These experiences and knowledge will definitely help me establish holistic approaches and innovative works that can ensure a sustainable society in my home country. As one of the bridges between Korea and Myanmar, I strongly hope to be able to create sustainable designs and solutions and engage in crucial issues of my country especially in urban areas. I also imagine myself to be an architect with a dedication for an important social responsibility to make a positive difference in the world.
