In some respects, online newspaper are considerd to be a better method to acquire knowledges and capabilities, compared to books. However, many people argued that reading is the best way to develop creative imaginations and grasp language skills. I completely argee with this idea. On the one hand, substantial benefits can be gained from the frequent reading of traditional publications. Initially, books allow readers to activate and nurture imagination. In other word, people immerse themselves in a different world potrayed in paperback with little or no illustrations. For instance, when audiences read, they need to visualize the story behind the words. By self-imagining, the way to decipher verbal cues and cultivate mental image can be sharpened. Additionally, this trend is also beneficial in terms of facilitating language acquisition. Because vocabulary, grammar and logic using in handbooks is more literacy and accurate than websites or online articles, readers are able to exposure to new words in context, which promotes both precision and diversity of language use. On the other hand, the syndication of a plethora of online articles can have some disruptive influence. It appears that the preference of reading digital newspaper may inhibit creativity and imagination. Unlike hardbacks, the vivid nature of web-based publications slimplifies reading comprehension by not requiring the use of visualization. Beside, vocabulary as well as word count is often presented shortly to ensure conciseness and brevity. Furthermore, cyber magazines also negatively affect language use. This happens along with the fast-paced production of online news without selective choice of vocabulary and grammar. As a result, viewers may be under the impact of this passive method of absorbing information undermines intellectual development in the long run. In conclusion, for the reasons I have mentioned above, I strongly believe that spending more time reading books bring about better linguistic abilities and creativity, compared to online articles.
