Some people believe that the most important qualities of an effective teacher are understanding and empathy. Others believe that it is more important for teachers to be rigorous and demanding in their expectations for students. Write a response in which you discuss which view more closely aligns with your own position and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should address both of the views presented.

Teachers play a critical role in determining student’s education. While teachers are regarded as a path shower, their ways of spreading the education has been unquestioned in many parts of the world even. Gladly, people have become more open minded and have put forth their opinion on teacher’s chosen path for their students. People are divided in their thinking about how the teacher’s should behave for their efficacy. Some people believe the empathy to play a vital role while the others believe stringent policy. I however, think that understanding and empathy is mostly important while holding on some little aspects of rigorous demanding for three reasons.
Teachers are known for their efficacy in shaping student’s life. However, not all student can comply in the same way. Each student is different and require different approach to be educated. For instance, if a student is suffering from Dyslexia will have hard time expressing themselves, whether it be verbally or orally, and often find themselves in darkness. If teachers are unable to figure out such student’s issues, such dyslexic student will find themselves falling under depression and eventually give up with their life. So in order to help such students, teachers should have empathy for their students in order to understand them fully and provide them extra care. This is the reason why understanding student is very important.
Moreover, having a empathetic teacher is considered a boon to most of the students as they will have a better chance to communicate with the teacher candidly. The more the honest students are with the teacher, easier it will be for the teacher to understand their students problems and work on in more effectively. For example, a Hollywood movie, Freedom Writers, which is derived from a real life story, depicts how a teacher are able to connect with their students and how their bonding has helped the students in carving their life. This example illustrates how it is imperative for the teacher to develop such quality.
On the other hand, as all students are different, having to take care of each student individually is quixotic. In fact, having to take care of one child means providing less care for other students. This bias creates discrepancy in the knowledge dissemination. To illustrate this point further, in a normal school, each students are given the same homework, same punishment, and generally treated everyone equally. If this way of edification is a problem, then why would such norm even exist? Wouldn’t it be absurd for scholars to follow such practice? If such norms were to be detrimental to student’s future, then it would have vanished a long time ago. So, it is not possible to look after each student individually and should be put into more rigorous activities to extract the best outcome from them.
Nevertheless, while some people may contradict with the claim that it is not effective enough for teachers to demonstrate their empathy to students because it defies the norm, the norms are basically created by the teachers themselves and if required change for better, then it should be changed without any hesitation. Therefore, to conclude, this controversy in not fully understood which path is better, the prompt seems to be complex to have a single unbiased opinion.
