Some people believe that car-free days are effective ways to reduce air pollution. However, others argue that there are other ways that are more effective. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

Some people believe that car-free days are effective ways to reduce air pollution. However, others argue that there are other ways that are more effective. WWw6k
People hold different views about whether car-free days should be regarded as an optimal method to minimize the rising levels of air pollution. While some people believe in the importance of car-free days, I would argue that there are other solutions which are more feasible. To begin with, it is believed that car-free days could help ease air pollution. The first reason is that exhaust fumes from cars are one of the primary reasons which lead to air pollution. The volume of cars which are used every day is considerable and many of them do not have smog emission standards. Therefore, they emit a large amount of smog such as carbon monoxide and sulfur dioxide, which is harmful for human health. In addition, if there are more, this will force people find alternative means of transportation like public transportation and bicycles. Accordingly, residents are likely to form the habit of using other vehicles and gradually decrease the frequency of using cars. On the other hand, there are more fruitful methods that can be carried out to reduce air pollution. Firstly, it is true that the amount of exhaust fumes from heavy industrial firms is as large as from vehicles, so governments can legislate strict controls on heavy industrial companies’ smog emissions, which means that they must treat their exhaust gases before releasing them into the environment. Secondly, environmental organizations can cooperate with governments to launch many campaigns to encourage citizens to replace cars and motorbikes with electric vehicles which are more environmentally friendly. This trend will improve the quality of air in the long term because electric vehicles charge batteries by electricity and have no smog and noise. In conclusion, it is true that car-free days can productively decrease air pollution, but I believe that there are more productive methods to alleviate it.
