Some people believe that a greater difference in age between parents and children is more beneficial than less of a difference. Do you think the advantages of a greater age difference outweigh the disadvantages.

Some people have parents that are decades older than them, while others have parents that are only 15 years older than them. Although age doesn't determine one's parenting abilities, there certainly is a difference in the upbringing of a child. A wider age gap between parents and children means that the parents have gone through more life experiences and have seen more things. Having been through a lot, these parents certainly know better about what works and what doesn't, which can really help their child make wiser decisions and prevent unwanted incident that either may have been gone through or seen by them. However, a wider age gap also means a greater difference of era. Our world is constantly changing, what is considered dangerous back then may be less of a threat today, and vice versa. Parents who have difficulty in accepting and adapting to these changes may frustrate children as their view of life and parenting may be severely outdated. On the other hand, a closer age gap means that the parents may have a bigger chance at having a closer bond with their children. Given that they didn't live in completely different times, they may have more things to bond over and can relate to each other rather well. In fact, these parents may be able to understand their children even better than others because they went through what their children is going through not long ago. In conclusion, regardless of the age gap, everyone has a shot at being great parents. However, I personally admit that the advantages of having parents with wider age gap outweigh the disadvantages. Although bonding is a vital key in parenting, I believe that parents need to be a lot wiser than their children, which may be difficult for people who turned into parents early on. Besides, just because that they live in a different era, it doesn't mean that they have nothing to bond over.
